Possum Kingdom Lake

What do you think of when you think of going to the lake? Possum Kingdom has it all and more! You can enjoy peace and quiet, sing and dance and/or anything in between when you come to Possum Kingdom! The all-time favorite is watching the gorgeous sunsets on the beautiful limestone cliff lines surrounding the lake. Wherever you are and whatever you are doing, you will want to stop and watch. Stargazing is another favorite activity for all ages because the sky is so clear and dark. The stars light up like diamonds and you can learn your constellations all over again!

Of course boating is a very common activity--anything from kayaking to yachting. You can get back to nature and camp at nicely maintained Brazos River Authority (BRA) campgrounds or the Possum Kingdom State Park or bring your camper/RV. Hiking or walking along neighborhood walk trails or on the more challenging BRA trails is a great way to get exercise and explore the outdoors. Chances are you will see deer, roadrunners and maybe a fox. You may pick up an interesting rock, a fossil, a bunch of wildflowers, a piece of driftwood or an Indian artifact!

There are sandy beaches, horse-back riding, golf, tennis, spas, fitness centers, fishing holes, fine (but lake-casual) dining to very casual dining--lakeside at many restaurants. There are several churches to attend too. You can enjoy wake- or knee-boarding, surfing, tubing, water-skiing, scuba-diving, jet skiing, cliffs-diving/jumping or just enjoying the water and sunshine in your boat while making new friends in the famous Hell's Gate.
